B1 In Search of the Unknown (RPG PDF)
By TSR/Wizards of the Coast
Author: Mike Carr
Module B1: “In Search of the Unknown,” forms a complete adventure for use with Dungeons & Dragons Basic Set. It is especially designed as an instructional aid for beginning Dungeon Masters and players, specifically created to enable new Dungeon Masters to initiate play with a minimum of preparation.
In addition to descriptive and situational material, this module also includes special informational sections giving background history and legends; listings of possible monsters and treasures, and how to place them; a list of adventuring characters; tips on various aspects of play for the Dungeon Master; and helpful advice for starting players.
Quick review
System: Dungeons & Dragons (Basic)
Recommended for: Old-school dungeon crawls and sandbox adventuring
In Search of the Unknown takes adventurers into Quasqueton, the abandoned stronghold of two mysterious adventurers, Rogahn and Zelligar, in search of their secrets and treasures. This module is a classic sandbox, a long list of rooms ready to be filled with all kinds of monsters and treasure as you see fit. It’s a perfect starting point for customizing a dungeon to suit your campaign. When I was playing D&D years ago, I prefered more structured adventures, however, now that I mostly stick to Ironsworn, this module is perfect as it allows me to pick and use rooms and monsters on the go, making each run unique and interesting.
B1 In Search of the Unknown is availble on DriveThruRPG in PDF and print-on-demand.
